It's FREE! Download now (140 Kb)

Dictionary Maker is a tool to compose dictionaries (word lists) for password recovery using multiple source text files. Dictionary Maker extracts all words from source text files and put them into output dictionary. Any duplications are eliminated. Program is optimized for speed and could be used to compose really big dictionaries. Composed dictionary could be used for password recovery

How to Use Dictionary Maker

At first you should either create a new dictionary or open existing one.

The buttons for the work with the dictionary are on the ‘Dictionary’ panel.

Create ‘ - makes a new blank dictionary in the memory.

Load’ - loads the dictionary from file dictionary.

Close’ - closes the dictionary in memory without saving it .

Save’ - saves the dictionary from memory on the disk.

In the ‘Status’ panel displays the present state of the dictionary, stored in the memory.

Size (bytes)’ - the size of the dictionary stored in the memory (in bytes)

Size (words)’ - the number of words in the dictionary, stored in the memory.

After you have created or loaded the dictionary the field ‘Dictionary charset’ is filled. In this field there are symbols, which don’t apply to the words, all other symbols are considered to be the ones to separate the words. While making dictionary, please choose only those symbols you want to make dictionary from. For example: only English letters or only the letters of a national alphabet. By default, this field contains all symbols.

Now you have to choose files for processing, from which the words will be added to the dictionary. All text files can be processed. Files to be processed are placed in the ‘File to process’ panel. The button ‘Add file(s) allows you to choose files to add to this panel.

Note: if you want to add all ‘txt’ files from disk/subdirectory, click the right mouse button over the ‘Add file’s’ button.

You can correct the file list in the panel ‘File to process’.

The ‘Start’ button runs the processing of the chosen files. The progress of processing for each file is displayed on the ‘Results’ and ‘Progress’ panels. The changes in the dictionary are displayed on the ‘Status’ panel.

Remark: If there is a tick in the ‘Options’ panel - case register the words are not brought to the upper case while being compared and added.
